mimitalks ("we", "us") is an app that lets children have safe, parent-supervised conversations with beloved fictional characters powered by artificial intelligence. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the mimitalks mobile app and the mimitalks.app website.

1. Summary for parents

  • The account is always created and managed by an adult (parent or legal guardian).
  • We only ask for the minimum information needed to run the service.
  • Any information about your children (such as first name or age) is optional and provided by you, the parent.
  • Conversations are filtered and moderated to keep them age-appropriate.
  • We do not sell personal data and we do not show targeted advertising to children.
  • You can review and delete your children's information and your entire account at any time.

2. Data we collect

Account data (provided by the parent): name, e-mail address, password, and language preference.

Child profile data (optional, provided by the parent): first name or nickname, age range, and favorite characters. This data is used only to personalize conversations.

Content data: messages, voice recordings sent to characters, and the audio and video responses generated by the service.

Purchase data: subscription plan, credit purchases, and transaction identifiers. Payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play: we never see your full card details.

Technical data: device model, operating system, app version, crash logs, and anonymous usage statistics that help us keep the app stable and safe.

3. How we use your data

We use the data described above to:

  • Provide the service: generate character conversations, personalized audio messages, and videos.
  • Keep children safe: filter inappropriate content and moderate conversations.
  • Manage subscriptions, credits, and purchases.
  • Provide customer support and answer your requests.
  • Improve the app, fix bugs, and develop new features.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Artificial intelligence and service providers

Character responses, voices, and videos are generated with the help of third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and ElevenLabs) that process conversation content on our behalf.

These providers act as data processors under contracts that restrict how they may use the data. We do not allow our providers to use your family's content to train their models where such opt-outs are available, and we send them only what is necessary to generate the requested response.

5. Children's privacy

mimitalks is designed for families. Children use the app under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who owns the account.

We comply with children's privacy laws, including COPPA (United States), GDPR-K (European Union), and LGPD (Brazil). This means:

  • We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from a child.
  • We collect only the minimum data needed for the app to work.
  • We do not show behavioral or targeted advertising to children.
  • Parents can review, correct, or delete their child's information at any time, and can revoke consent.
  • We never make a child's information publicly available.

6. Sharing of data

We share personal data only with:

  • Service providers that operate the app on our behalf (AI generation, voice synthesis, hosting, analytics, and customer support tools).
  • Apple and Google, for payment processing and subscription management.
  • Public authorities, when required by law or to protect the safety of a child.

We never sell personal data to third parties.

7. Data retention, account and data deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Conversation content may be automatically deleted after a limited period.

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time:

  • In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account.
  • By e-mail: send a request to hello@mimitalks.app from the account's e-mail address.

After a deletion request, personal data is removed from our active systems within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep specific records (for example, purchase records for tax purposes).

8. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and the principle of least privilege. No system is 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your family's information and will notify you and the competent authorities in case of a relevant incident, as required by law.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR, LGPD, and CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and your children.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.

10. International transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located in countries other than yours (including the United States). Whenever data is transferred internationally, we use safeguards recognized by applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by e-mail before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
